Welcome to Mad Saint Yoga & Pilates! I’ve had two great rivers in my life so far–The Detroit River and the Mad River. Both Detroit and Dayton have been my homes and have given me so much–nourished through experiences both peaceful and painful.
Dreams born to live and become while others perish. My life/lives are the breeding ground for Mad Saint Yoga & Pilates. I actively teach clients in both cities and consider both to be my homes.
Let me show you through these awesome practices, one can turn weakness into strength and misfortune into wealth. In one’s own mind, body, and breath—the whole universe is present!!! As said in the Desiderata—no less than the trees and the stars!!!
Mad Saint Yoga & Pilates provides innovative yoga and Pilates instruction based on classical training and modern kinesiology principles. Sessions are an individual or small group and are tailored to the unique
needs of every Body present.
These are not a one-size-fits-all approach to mind/body fitness. It is co-creative, intuitive, and ultimately empowers the individual
beyond the mat or machine.

Exercise is important in every person’s life. These practices fall under the “mind-body” category because they’re more focus on the mind’s ability to control and guide the physical body.
Both yoga and pilates will help you gain self-confidence and poise in everyday life. Also, both apply methods of breath control, which in turn has a calming effect on the mind and internal body.
WHAT IS YOGA?
Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in India.
The ultimate goal of practicing yoga is to attain tranquility in the mind and spirit, and making this goal achievable by means of yoga poses and meditation. It has a holistic orientation in that yoga is practiced physically, but its benefits extend to the mental and spiritual being.

WHAT IS PILATES?
Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve
general fitness and overall well-being.
Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. In Pilates the chance of injury is much lower than with other
more strenuous forms of exercise.
Pilates also focuses on the mind-body connection. While doing the various exercises your mind needs to be constantly aware of your
breathing and the way your body moves.

Pilates and yoga are also quite different from each other, and it is in the differences that we find many of the complimentary aspects of the two that make them such a great team.

Tamara provides a wonderful spiritual experience. Over the last 9 months she has helped me transform my life. Pilates has done wonders to help me prevent injury during my more intense workouts, and her ability to work around my limitations is incredible. Additionally, she has helped me expand my yoga and meditation practices, I have improved my form more than any other instructor I have encountered, and I have been able to find peace and strength within myself through meditation. Tamara DeVine is a great yoga instructor. She started teaching yoga to the students at Thurgood Marshall High School and really showed them different ways to be fit and physically active without playing a sport/game. She is an excellent teacher and I believe she instilled the power of yoga to her students even when they didn't think that it was an activity they would like.
With Pilates, not only did I discover a new exercise system that vastly improves my overall fitness, I was extremely fortunate to have found Tamara, my Pilates trainer. Tamara has clearly demonstrated her expertise and value as I have enjoyed very real results training just 1-2 times a week for the past 5 months. I's obvious Tamara knows the body and how to work it well. But what else is nice is that she's an easy-going person to be around. She's very aware of how to provide excellence customer service to her clients. And Tamara's ability as a teacher helps me learn something new every session. I have above-average knowledge of fitness as a former fitness professional myself, but Pilates provides advantages that's rarely found in the weight room. I highly recommend challenging your core strength and flexibility with Pilates and to train with the best Pilates teacher in Dayton (or, at least you won't find me searching elsewhere for my Pilates needs anytime soon!)
